What Type of Consumer am I?

×

When I look at myself as a consumer, I’d say I’m a mix. On one hand, I like to plan and do research, especially for bigger purchases. On the other hand, I can be impulsive with things like clothing or accessories. Shopping gives me a little dopamine boost, so if I’m in a bad mood, that’s usually when I’ll buy something. I also love thrifting because I feel like I get more for my money and I like the idea of reusing instead of always buying new.

What Influences My Buying Decisions

A lot of my decisions come down to lifestyle, values, and mood. I’ll spend more time researching when it comes to things I’m putting in my body, like food, or on my body, like skincare. I prefer to shop with companies that share my values around sustainability, fair trade, and good working environments. At the same time, I grew up without a lot of money, so I still look for value and practicality.

Which Stage Leads to My Purchases

The evaluation stage is usually where I move forward, but it depends on the type of purchase. For bigger things, I’ll compare options until I feel confident. For smaller, fun things like clothes or accessories, it’s often more about impulse and how I’m feeling in the moment.

Influence of Marketing Research and Design

I wouldn’t say I think much about marketing research when I’m buying, but I notice when a brand feels like it gets me. If the design and message feel authentic, and especially if they highlight values like sustainability or creativity, I’m more likely to pay attention.

Post-Purchase Behavior

I’m a serious hype man when I love a product. If I’m into it, I will sing its praises until the cows come home. I’ll tell my friends, family, and anyone who will listen. On the other hand, if something disappoints me, I’ll remember it forever, avoid that brand and probably tell everyone I hate it. Sometimes I second-guess a purchase, but usually I know right away whether it feels worth it.
